WHY DONATE?

Congregation Nishmat Am is a vibrant synagogue and communal meeting place. As a center for worship, study, fellowship and community, it brings people of all ages closer to their heritage and to the Jewish people.

The costs related to operating the synagogue and providing all its services are formidable. Membership dues and other sources of revenue provide less than 50% of the funds needed to cover these costs. This necessitates our seeking revenue from other sources. Congregation Nishmat Am, therefore, relies on support from its members, from its friends and from the general community to supplement its regular income so that we can continue to sustain the basic services of the synagogue, to provide a wide array of programs and to maintain our commitment to a financial aid policy which gives assistance to persons unable to afford dues or religious school tuition.

HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS DIRECTED

General Donation

Assists with the basic cost of running the synagogue and its activities on a day-to-day basis.

Religious School

Supports the educational program and activities of Nishmat Am’s religious school.

Scholarship

Provides support for our scholarship fund for families unable to afford full membership dues.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund

Distributes funds for basic necessities to families in need or facing a crisis.

Kiddush/Seudah Shlishit

Sponsoring a Kiddush or Seudah Shlishit for a special occasion.

Dedication

Donations may be used to dedicate a permanent item in the synagogue, such as  Siddur (Prayer Book) $ 36 each, Chumash (Bible) $ 54 each, Memorial, Plaque $300 each, Tree of life leaf $250 each. Capital Fund

For building improvement and major equipment purchases.

HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

Donations may be made in any of the following ways.
- Cash/check
- By mail or in person
- Credit Card 
  Credit card debits may be conveniently made in person, by mail or by phone. - Pledge
  Gifts of a larger size may be paid - through arrangement with the  
  synagogue - over an extended time period.
- Appreciated securities
  Donation of appreciated stock is considered a tax donation and avoids
  capital gains tax (please check with your tax consultant).
- Gifts–In-Kind
  Nishmat Am accepts certain gifts-in-kind, depending on our need and the
  condition of items.
- Will
  Consider naming Nishmat Am in your will as a legacy to the synagogue.
- Matching Gifts
  Many companies have programs that provide matching gifts, doubling the
  impact of your gift. Check with your employer.
